Five adventures among the stars
To the Rocket! The astronaut is ready for a trip. Help the astronaut reach the rocket. Where will the astronaut go? Make up a name for the planet.
A Visit to Earth. A visitor from another planet wants to see Earth. Show the visitor the way to the blue planet. What would the alien visitor like to learn about Earth?
Time to Recharge. The robot needs more energy. Lead the robot to the charging station. What will the robot do after recharging?
The Lost Star. A little wizard is looking for a lost star. Lead the wizard through the winding paths. What wish would you make on this little star?
The Explorers' Flag. The rover has spotted the explorers' flag. Find a path to the flag and avoid dead ends. What would you name this space base?
These are make-believe adventures. The story questions have no single correct answer. Choose whichever character you want to help first.
What's inside
- A nine-page color PDF in each paper size: A4 and US Letter.
- Five different mazes, each on its own practice page.
- Five short stories, each with a question after the maze.
- A guide to the start at 1, the goal at 2, and open passages.
- Two answer pages with all five routes, matching story numbers, characters, and goals.
The cover is page 1; the guide is page 2; practice pages are 3-7. Answers are on pages 8-9.
Find the start, then follow the path
Read the short story and find the character. The maze entrance beside the character is marked 1. The goal picture is beside marker 2.
Follow the open passages from 1 to 2. Do not cross walls. At a dead end, return to the last junction and try another passage.
An adult can read the story and question aloud. Try the route with a finger before using a pencil. After a try, compare your path with the matching answer from start to finish.
Print the pages you choose
Choose the A4 or US Letter PDF to match your paper. Print your chosen practice pages from pages 3-7 at 100% / Actual Size. Keep the cover, guide, and answers on screen if you like, or print them separately.
Each answer uses the same story number and title as its practice page:
- Story 1, To the Rocket!: practice page 3; answer page 8.
- Story 2, A Visit to Earth: practice page 4; answer page 8.
- Story 3, Time to Recharge: practice page 5; answer page 8.
- Story 4, The Lost Star: practice page 6; answer page 9.
- Story 5, The Explorers' Flag: practice page 7; answer page 9.
After the maze
Try the question below your chosen maze. Invent a planet name, imagine what the robot does next, or name the rover's space base. You can answer with words or a drawing.
Questions about the pages
Do I need to print all nine pages? Choose one practice page from pages 3-7 to begin. Keep the guide and answers on screen or print them separately.
What if a path leads to a dead end? Return to the last junction and look for another open passage. Try with a finger first, then compare with the matching answer after a try.
Are all the mazes the same? All five routes are different. The first three fields have rounded outlines, the fourth is rectangular, and the fifth is square.
Why is there a wizard in a space maze? These are make-believe adventures. Help the wizard find the lost star, then imagine a wish.
Does the player need to read? An adult can read the story and question aloud. The path uses pictures, markers 1 and 2, and open passages.
